Since I live with a lot of Americans, we celebrate Thanksgiving, too. It will be my 5th Thanksgiving all togehter since I am European we don’t celebrate it in Europe (I guess we don’t have anything to be thankful for). Just kidding, of course I know that Thanksgiving is a holiday that remembers the pilgrim’s struggle and the friendliness of the Indians in American history.

Some friends donated some turkey and ham and I am excited for the feast! I made a pasta salad already to support our gathering- yeah!!!!!!!

What else am I doing around this time? Well, school finishes up in a week, so I will teach my last class this week- bittersweet!!!! Then the Winter break kicks off and I will have tons of time to do what I have planned to do for months. I want to do more Design work, coloring, fiction writing and other creative stuff. So excited about it!

The current drama I am watching (when I have time) is the Taiwanese version of Hana kimi. I didn’t know I would get into Taiwanese dramas so much. They are happy and funny and I really enjoy it!. Looking forward to write that review sometime soon, too!

Drama: Oh! My Lady

Oh! My Lady is a Korean Drama that my friend suggested to me. I live in Japan and my friend helped out at a Christian Festival that reached out to those who suffered loss at the big Tsunami in 2011. He told me, that the main actor (Choi Si Won) of this Drama was attending this Festival, too and went out of his way to support Japan. That impressed me and that’s how I came about this Drama!

Oh! My lady is a Drama that focuses on character development, how to get back on your feet after a hard time in your life and the issue of age difference between two lovers. This Drama is not about a typical lovestory, that seems perfect! Here is what I mean:

The story revolves around Yoon Gae Hwa, a 35 year old, devorced housekeeper who is in desperate need of a steady income to provide for her 9 year old daughter and herself. The day she gets a full time job at a musical production agency she gets caught up with the 28 year old, immature star actor Sung Min Woo, who has a hand full issues to deal with. A young toddler was dropped off at his house with a letter, that said the girl was his daughter. Helpless and overwhelmed he hires Gae Hwa to be his baby sitter and house keeper. Living together at his house Gae Hwa and Min Woo face countless obsticales, as they are trying to hide the existence of Min Woo’s  daughter from the outside world. As the story goes on, both of them go through struggles, self confrontation and a deeper growing friendship towards each other that soon results in more than just that…

When I was watching the Drama and I got to the last 3 episodes I was kinda confused, because the two main actors didn’t seem to like each other yet. But as the end was approaching they kinda recognized that their friendship was deeper and that they truly cared for each other. And that’s something really wonderful. So often Korean Dramas show you, how a lovestory has to start and develop, but seriously: this is such a cool message. A deep friendship grows into love for each other. A wonderful lovestory. Different than the usual stuff, but I really enjoyed it!

My rating is 8/10!

Drama: It started with a kiss

This is my first Taiwanese Drama and i loved it! You might remember my Drama review on Playful kiss. Well this is the Taiwanese version of the story. A friend told me, that fans of the story line were actually dissapointed with the Korean Version, because they liked the Taiwanese Drama so much. I didn’t like the Korean version too much, as you might remember, but the actors were cool. The Taiwanese version is a lot more lively and fun. So here is the story (again, haha).:

Yuan Xiang Qin (starred by Ariel Lin) is a lively, optimistic but rather naive and simple minded girl who attends the same school as Jiang Zhi Shu (played by Joe Cheng), wo is the genius of the school but known for being rude and cold blooded, with little interest in anything. Xian Qin however has a crush on him for years and finally musters up the courage to confess to him, just to be rejected right on the spot. But everything changes when Xiang Qin’s house collapes in an earth quake and Zhi Shu’s dad opens up his home to her and her dad. From now on Xiang Qin and Zhi Shu live together, which gives opportunity to some funny and also akward situations. Zhi Shu who acts still cold towards her curses every day Xiang Qin is annoying him with her persistance, but slowly he warms up to her.

I am still not a fan of the story line itself, because it think it’s terrible when a girl clings to a guy who obviously doesn’t want her- that’s just so depressing! But this drama makes the characters really lively and Joe Cheng does a wonderful job playing Zhi Shu and let’s him appear real to the audience. I like the moments he freaks out about things, I thought it was funny when he was running around the building like crazy- in the Korean Drama you didn’t really see much of these emotions from the main male character.

My rating is 8/10! A good drama, check it out!

No ground breaking ceremony

Mhm… I was supposed to go to this groundbreaking ceremony but it didn’t work out for me to go so I stayed back and studied for my class. It was a good kick back Saturday where I go a lot of stuff done! Yeah!

My next Drama coming up

This is my next drama, Oh! my lady! I’m currently watching episode one as I am typing. It’s a calm night. Me and my roommates are hanging out and we are enjoying coming home late and staying up late tonight, since it’s our weekend. But we will go to a groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow afternoon. I’m excited about that, I have never been to one.

Oh yeah. I will write the review on “It started with a kiss” soon. This is the drama I watched the last couple of weeks. It was my first Taiwanese drama and quite enjoyable.

Drama: Boys over Flowers

I recently finished watching Boys over flowers, the Korean version of Hana Yori Dango. I was familiar with the story line already but I gotta say I prefer the Japanese version over the Korean version. But let’s get to the story and some pros and cons.

The story:
Geum Jan-di, a poor but very confident and hard working girl attends the Shinwa high school, a school where rich kids are all over the place. Her classmates and especially the F4 team, a group of 4 good looking boys who dominate the school life are completely contrary to her. When standing her ground and trying to protect other students from harassment from the F4 boys, she becomes the group’s leaders target. His name is Goo Jun-pyo, a rather arrogant, self-centered, rich and violent young man, who is irritated by her behavior. But as he is trying to make her yield to him, he starts falling in love with her. But Geum Jan-di’s heart has already been given away to Yoon Ji-hoo, another member of F4, whose mellow character and friendliness totally captivate her. But nothing is set in stone yet, as Goo Jun-pyro starts it fight for Geum Jan-di’s heart.

So the storyline is the same as Hana Yori Dango and to be honest, I like the Japanese actors a lot more. But I do favor KimHyun-joong and Kim Bum in the Korean version. Haha ;). I am not a big fan of the two main actors, not at all actually, so therefore the drama was not very enjoyable for me. I got frustrated with hairstyles and lacking acting skills, especially from the main actress. I know this is one of the most popular damas, I am very aware of that but it wasn’t really my favorite and was glad when I finished it.

I just want to share some of my thoughts about this drama. And this might spoil the end for you if you haven’t watched it. We all know Geum Jan- di eventually hooks up with Goo Jun-pyo, but seriously: why???? They had more fights and times when they were separated in the drama, than when they were together. They were only together in 2 out 20-and-some Episodes and the rest of the time they were hideously fighting! And Goo Jun-pyo is a jerk! Would you want to be together with a guy like that? I wouldn’t… And the end drove me nuts! She is dancing with Yoon Ji-hoo, who has been her friend and has always been there for her the whole drama. She says in her thoughts: thank you, my soulmate! Girl, wake up, he is the one you should be together with! He will not get mad at you and run away angry, but he will care for you, he is your best friend! Girl, marry your best friend, so you actually have something in common with your husband and won’t be miserable, when romantic feelings cease. There will be hope to go on. That’s my opinion on that, I know nower days the trend goes away from thinking like that and it is quick decided to marry the rich and cool guy instead of the one with the warm heart. At least Korean dramas give us this picture… What can we do? I don’t want to judge too harsh, I enjoy watching them too, haha. But seriously, the Korean drama standards are not really applicable to life.

But now, our friend Yoon Ji-hoo… If he would have confessed in he the beginning, (he doesn’t confess at all so she has no clue about his feelings towards her) he would have hit home run and would have got the girl. I wish for him it get out if this miserable state of being friend zoned a million times and now watching from the sidelines into all eternity. But the pitiful thing is, that he loves his best friend but she got someone else- his other best friend. If he is not burning rubber and getting outta there he will be sad for the rest of his life.

By the way, did you guys notice, that Geum Jan-di never replied to Goo Jun-pyo’s proposal? Maybe there is still hope for our pitiful seconds lead. Haha, but no… No hope at all…

Okay, so after I vented I give this drama a 5/10- because of KimHyun-joong and Kim Bum (haha) and because it was funny sometimes. Drop a comment below how you liked this drama!

A Mr Donuts day

Hi everyone!
I had my day off today and it was wonderful to get out and spend some time with my laptop! I love creative writing and I can write best at coffee shops and places where I am not usually at- like home or work! I went to Mr. Donuts today and enjoyed some good donuts and wrote a couple of pages for my fiction book! Wonderful day! Mr Donuts is a Japanese donut store in Japan- but they also serve lunch and beverages.
