Flash Season 2 Finale | Review

I just got the time to finish Flash season 2. Oh my goodness you guys! There were some events where I was like: Woooow! Stoked! And events where I was upset over the writers choice of storytelling.

The end of the season is a bigger cliff hanger than the last and I’m very excited to see how season 3 turns out. In the following sections I will talk about some of the aspects of the season and its final episode m, so if you haven’t seen the finale be warned of spoilers!

———————

Okay so, first of all season 2 is not as good as season 1 but I still enjoyed it. What I didn’t like was that Barry couldn’t get a grip on the right attitude as the Flash and stay together with Patty, who I absolutely adore! But you know the writers are good so I accepted the style of writing because we all know the hero has to struggle through stuff.

But what I was really disappointed about was how they solved the identity of the masked man. Dude, we were all at the edge of our seats with his guy. Who he was… Why he was imprisoned. He was a key figure. Why didnt the writers give him a more spectacular reveal? It’s Jay Garrik! And it’s Barry’s dad! Hello? In the end, they just show him in the lab where his mask is being taken off. He could have had such a dramatic reveal, especially with Henry’s death.

Here comes the next point I wan’t to talk about. Henry Allen’s murder by Zoom. I think it was very sad and heartbreaking. But seriously: Barry has too much family for a super hero. He has Henry and then a full-on dad, sister, brother family with the Wests. From a writer’s point of few, letting Henry die was a good choice, especially as he was killed by Barry’s second arch nemesis (his mom being killed by his first arch nemesis). But I seriously fear for Joe now…

The last point I want to write about is the end of the season. Barry is so heartbroken that he makes the jump into the past to change his mother’s murder, even though he decided not to do it at the end of season 1. Wow, everything is different now. And my first thought was: is Arrow going to stop with the cross overs? Because their reality will change too because of Barry’s time jump: pretty cool stuff to think about. I wonder how they continue the series. Will Barry loose his powers? Will he try to get them back in order to stop himself from preventing his mother’s death? Will Flash do a whole new story line? But isn’t that counterproductive to the show because people have started to love the characters how we know them?

Give me your thoughts! How do you think will season 3 look like?

I am not sure how I feel about the end of season 2. I don’t really buy into “being the fastest” as motivation for death and destruction. Obviously that wasn’t zoom’s motivation, but he said it enough….too often really.
I appreciated one last look at the Black Canary (going to miss her on Arrow)–maybe this makes it possible for her to come back some day (though I doubt it).
As for saving his mother at the cost of history….curious how that is going to work out–probably more heartbreak to come.
I did indeed like Patty–but Iris was always the end game, so I can’t be too heartbroken.
Character development seems to continue along. Hopefully more Grodd in Season 3.

Yes you are right. Patty was never meant to be and Iris is the one he will end up with. Unless the writers try something way out of the comic story line. Zoom’s defeat seemed pretty rushed, too.

I’m sure there will be even more heart break. As you said. We will see. I’m excited for it
