Okinawan Folklore | The Ryukyu Kingdom’s kings…

MP1-medium

Hi guys,

have you heard of the ancient folklores revolving around the Ryukyu kings of Okinawa? Here is an article I wrote, about the ancient stories revolving around the Goddess that came down to Ryukyu and was forced to marry…

It’s  on Taiken.co, a Japanese/English travelblog. Check it out.

Lemon Grass Tea kinda day…

What a day. I want to throw in some Ibuprofen and go to bed. But work calls!

My friend made some Lemon grass tea for us and I was able to enjoy it during work.

How was your day?

Getting quite cold on this tropical island

Wow, Okinawa is getting cold. Here I am in my sweater the first time in 5 months. The wind is chilly and the temperature finally low enough to wear jeans and shoes.

Hokkaido ramen

Miso flavor. I tried it at the Ramen stadium in Hakata!

Cherry blossom time in Okinawa

It’s way to early for Sakura (Japanese for Cherry blossoms) in mainland or Kyushu. But Okinawa is much warmer than the rest of Japan. They blossom end of January and are much more pink than the mainland sakura. What a wonderful sight! I leave island today to go to Fukuoka for a few weeks for work. I’m so excited! I hope I can see the Sakura there too!

My day off is a good one! I’m at a Japanese donut cafe, doing some writing. Love it!

My burn looking a bit… worse?

It doesn’t hurt as bad anymore but it doesn’t look better… Unless this is the color of the healing process.
