Book review: Warm Bodies (No spoilers)

Even though I am not a big Gore fan, I do like Zombie apocalypse books and movies if they are not too scary. I started reading Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion and it was good! I would definitely be interested in watching the movie, even though I heard it’s not as good as the book. Warm Bodies portays the Zombie apocalypse from the un-dead’s side. A Zombie named “R” meets a girl named Julie and falls in love with her. A pretty interesting story. Check it out!

Audio Books: Interitance Cycle | Brisignr & Inheritance

I finally finished the Inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini. I think it too me almost 9 months to complete it and I really miss listening to it. I wrote about the first two books (Eragon and Eldest) here, if you would like to read the review.

So, as Eragon’s adventure and struggle against King Galbatorix finally comes to an end I am rather saddend that I actually finished the books. It was a great story, even though some parts were a bit slow. The character development was great, even though there are characters that seem very steady and make only little progress.

Brisingr and Inheritance follow Eragon as he becomes stronger, becomes more of a leader and a more skilled magician than he ever thought he could be. The end of the series of course leads to the confrontation with Galbatorix and many things are revealed that explain why exactly Eragon became a rider and how he was lead up to this point and how Galbatorix became so strong. It is a good ending, even though it’s different than some fans might want it to be. It’s a bit sad but honestly, it is a wonderful ending for Eragon, as he excells all riders and magicians before him and as there is much more for him to do and learn.

If you love Fantasy, especially medieval stories, read the Inheritance Cycle. It’s one of the best book series I have ever read. What a journey!

Book: The Dreamworld of a Shopaholic

After finding the second book of this series for 50¥ at a recycle store I got the first book on iBooks, too! I thought  the second book was fun but I gotta say, I love the first book of the series: The Dreamworld of a Shopaholic

The story: Book 1 introduces you to Rebecca Bloomwood who works for the financial paper Sucessful Savings but rather reluctantly does her job. It is a greater joy for her to go shopping and to spend her money on nice clothes make-up and things she actually doesn’t really need. She is supposed to be pro with money but has maneuvered herself into a rather tight position with her bank. She has depts, constant calls from her bank manager and spins a world of excuses to avoid the dept collectors. More over she comes in contact with handsome PR Company boss Luke Brandon who soon becomes her direst enemy when one of her articles attacks one of his clients.

The writing style is so refreshing and funny, I haven’t read an entertaining novel like that in a while. I am so much into Fantasy recently that I forget how fun other types of novels are.

Audio Books: Interitance Cycle | Eragon & Eldest

It has been long since my last post about my current reading status. That’s because I was reading Eragon and Eldest and those are some whammy books. The Eldest audio book was 20 hours long. It took me 3 months to get through it. I did t really commit to listening every day because middle part of the book was a bit slow. I love reading the books which are totally tainted by the movie they attempted to make of Eragon. I wish they would redo the Inhertiance cycle and make it a movie series like Lord of the Rings. Try the books series is you like Fanatsy. It has a big fandom!

The Story of book 1 & 2 (Eragon & Eldest) without spoilers: Eragon Garrison is a ordinary farm boy who one day finds a strange egg out of which a dragon named Saphira hatches. The dragons and riders were thought to be distinct but Eragon now becomes the first dragon rider of the new age. The story begins with the murder of his uncle, commanded by the evil king Galbatorix who is enslaving all of the land of Alagasia. In rage Eragon begins a journey motivated by revenge, which leads him with his master Brom all across the land to fight enemies and to make allies, to be trained by the ancient elves in magic and combat and to grow up to be a mighty worrier who soon has to face king Galbatorix to overthrow his evil rule.

Audio Book: The Kill Order

I just finished The Kill Order by James Dashner. You might have heard about the Maze Runner series they are making into movies right now. I read the first three books already and watched the movie The Maze Runner which were really good. I put links to the reviews on them below! I haven’t written one for The Death Cure. I will write it soon and edit this post!

The Kill Order is the prequel to the series and describes how the sun flares harmed the earth and how the flare virus got released. Protagonist Mark and his love interest Trina get caught in a sub station when the radioactive sun flares hit the earth and destroy most of the surface. He finds himself with a group of survivors and travels around to escape the heat and death of the catastrophy. When a deadly virus is released, him and his friends fight against insanity and violence that creep into the minds of the infected and soon make many of their companions their victims. It is not long before Mark himself finds him exposed to the threatening virus that seems to take everything from him he ever loved.

Honestly speaking: the books was alright. I was eager to finish it just to get it over with. It cannot keep up with the first three books, which were amazing but it is nice to get a prequel that describes how everything started!

Books Reviews: The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, The Death Cure

New book finds

I was shopping today and founds some books that look quite interesting- especially the 7th son book. Any of you know about these two novels? How are they?

Audio Book: The Scorch Trials

The Scorch Trials was a phenomial book! It is the second book of the Maze Runner series and it is as good, if not even better than the first book. I enjoyed listening to it very much. If you like Hunger Games like books, this is a series you need to check out!

Here is the story: The gladers escaped the deathly maze. Only 20 out of 50 boys survived but the peace doesn’t last long. As they were rescued and brought to safety Thomas and his friends soon find out that the creators of the Maze arranged everything to go into the second part of the experiment, the Scorch trials. The boys now must travel through a blazing hot desert, trying to survive heat, assassins, crazy zombie-like people and finding out little by little that nobody can be trusted. They meet new friends and foes and face challenges that take the lives of many and need all the courage the boys have in order to survive.

Great book! I am listening to the 3rd book in the series now: The Death Cure
